Is Cervical Disc Degeneration Becoming A Pain In Your Neck?
Poor posture combined with a lot of time spent looking down at phones or laptops can lead to problems with the cervical spine known as Cervical Disc Degeneration.
The human body is prone to wear and tear. Years of turning, bending, lifting, and twisting can ultimately wear out your intervertebral discs. These discs are the cushions between your spinal bones that act as built-in shock absorbers as you move your body.
Cervical Degeneration and Neck Pain
The damage to the discs over time is what is generally called cervical disc degeneration. Cervical degeneration takes various forms, and you may be diagnosed with spinal stenosis, bulging disc, herniated disc, or facet degeneration. All these can lead to compression of the spinal cord, which then leads to problems with movement and severe pain.
Common symptoms of cervical degeneration or spinal compression include neck pain, stiffness, headaches, or even pain in your shoulder and numbness running down your arm.
The constant pain, discomfort, and stiffness can negatively impact your career, family, and your overall quality of life.
Our Non-surgical Spinal Decompression Treatment
At Spine Wellness Center, we have just the solution for you if you have cervical degeneration or compression that is causing neck pain and stiffness. With our advanced DRX 9000 machine, we are able to give you an effective, non-surgical cervical decompression treatment.
If you have been having constant neck pain, we can evaluate you to see if it is something we can treat using the DRX 9000 machine. This machine is the best in the market and it works by creating negative pressure (or suction) within the disk space to decompress it.
The beauty of this machine is that it is very precise and it can target a specific disc area. This makes the treatment quick and effective. What’s more, the machine can be set up specifically for each patient.
We understand that each patient has a different body size and shape, and they present with different symptoms. So, using the DRX 9000 machine, we can customize and adjust the treatment for each of our patients so that you are comfortable during treatment.
Our Assessment and Treatment
For us to determine whether you are a candidate for cervical decompression therapy, there are several tests that we like to do. We begin with a range of motion test to check your head movement. How far can you move your head? Is there pain when you try to move your head on either side? Is your neck stiff causing you to turn with your entire body?
We also do muscle testing as well as test the nerve roots in the cervical spine. We will request an MRI and X-ray examination, if you haven’t done one recently, to help us understand better what is happening in there.
All the findings from these tests help us design a personalized treatment plan to correct your cervical spine problem. Usually, we design a 12-15 weeks treatment program to correct a cervical compression issue. At the end of the 12-15 week period, we evaluate your progress and either adjust your treatment plan or continue with the plan if it’s working for you.
