What is the DRX9000 and Spinal Decompression Therapy?
If you think you have a dreaded disc herniation then you are looking for answers on pain relief. Let’s take a look at non-surgical options. A conservative estimate states there is 66% chance you will experience severe back pain at some point in your life. The DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Therapy is cleared by the FDA for treatment of the herniation of discs. This is a little-known technique developed to treat your herniated and bulging disc with no downtime or recovery time. We have seen great results over the years.
The MRI scanning technology is the gold standard to determine if you have a herniated disc and if you are having pain due to degenerative changes in the Low Back or Neck. Patients who have pain radiating down their arms or legs could be candidates for MRI imaging.
Usually, a series of x-rays will be done first and then referral for MRI will take place.
Herniated Disc’s and the Healing Process
Once you have wear and tear in the spine from a sports injury or just plain life, the spine will adapt to these stressors. A herniated disc can be the result of many things. The good news is most herniated discs require no treatment. In most cases, the pain from a herniated disc will get better within a couple days and get better in 4 to 6 weeks. Restricting your activity, using ice and heat therapy, and taking over the counter medications will help in your recovery. If you have already been dealing with pain and other symptoms like numbness and tingling along with not being able to do your normal life, it’s time to look into a way to treat the problem.
Many patients will recover with rest and restriction of whatever activity may have led to the disc herniation. IF rest has not proven to be enough, other solutions include physical therapy, manual therapy, modalities like heat and ice to sooth the pain. Anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers, or injections to aid in pain relief to help the patient get through the symptoms, may also be appropriate. It is often after patients have tried all these things solutions, that they then find the need and benefits of the DRX9000. You don’t have to wait, you can start DRX9000 treatments along with physical therapy or injections. In our experience this speeds up the healing process.

DRX9000 Treatment Specifics
Many patients ask us the same questions. How long do you have to be treated, how often do I have to come and will my insurance cover it? First let’s look at how long it takes. Typically, we can work with you over 16-24 sessions within 8-12 weeks. Each person is different and treatment plans may need to be adjusted as we are undergoing therapy. Your visit will take approximately 50-60 minutes each time you are at the office. It is recommended after the 26-minute cycle with Decompression on the DRX 9000 that a patient ice for 20 minutes. We value your time and want to ensure you get the maximum result from your therapy. Non-Surgical Decompression is not a covered service under insurance at this time. Many patients use their HSA/FSA for payment.
Most patients also have a form of spinal alignment along with the DRX9000 treatment. The way we adjust the spine is safe for herniated discs as there is no popping or twisting of the neck or back area. It is a procedure called NUCCA. You can read about it here at nucca.org or on our website: NUCCA Chiropractic
